Right now I’ve got a few separate small projects in the works. I’m always up for new gigs and new groups, so if you’ve a collab’ you’d like to start, just get in touch and we’ll see what we can do.

  • Boogie Mammoth -

jazz quartet that plays as the house band for Austin’s Coffee & Film every Thursday night, 9pm – midnight. Mostly do R&B- or funk-fusion jazz. Band members include Paul Chong-You on trumpet, fluegelhorn, etc.; Gabe Carson on alto and tenor sax and occasional keys; Derek Engstrom on drums; Joshua Glenn Wilson on keys & the occasional cornet.

  • Stay on Target, STAY ON TARGET! -

industrial pop -slash- jazz trio; used as a front for individual songwriting of each member. Play on occasion at Downtown Credo. Includes Mike “Suddenly Huge” Bustillos on vocals, keys, and/or trumpet; Scott “Rubox Cube” Pausal on beatbox; Joshua Glenn Wilson on keys.

  • Synesthesia project -

long-term personal composition project that assigns a pitch value to each letter using a base-12 series, and uses individuals’ names to create melodies. That melody becomes a building block in creating a “song portrait” of the individual, attempting to build on that foundation and capture personality withing a musical piece. Additionally, I’m looking for visual artists interested in putting some time into painting abstract portraits of that same individual’s character: we have a 12-tone music system and a 12-tone color wheel. The pitch limitations put on the piece can also be color limitations on the artist’s palette, still leaving stroke, line form, intensity, and composition within the artist’s hands. I’ve a few blogs posts on the process so far.

  • Other -

I play a couple other gigs here and there around Orlando and Jax, but mostly infrequently. Also, deep down, someday I’d really like to have a jazz combo called Orjazm… but I have a feeling that somewhere along the way, some pastor or family member will frown deeply. *sigh* Some witty ideas just don’t translate well into the real world.
